Athens Authentic Marathon

The finish line of the Athens Authentic Marathon. The marathon course is based on the myth from which the race gained its name: Pheidippides, a messenger in Ancient Greece, ran from the Battle of Marathon to Athens to announce the Greeks’ victory over the Persians.

Athens Authentic Marathon

The marathon finishes at the Panathenaic Stadium. The stadium held the first modern Olympic games in 1896 and is the only stadium in the world built entirely of marble.
